Quality Standard ISO 17100

Quality Standard ISO 17100

We apply to all assignments a specific quality procedure to maintain the highest standards in every phase and we are committed to following the ISO 17100 Quality Standard for Translation Services.

The standard does not only introduce requirements for compliance with certain common procedures, but monitors processes especially developed for the overall execution of the translation – from acceptance of the order to its delivery. It outlines the quality assurance, traceability, basic requirements for the human resources and processes as well as the added value services.

PPT – People, Processes and Technology

People

Although technology can be used to speed up or fully automate workflows, translation and interpreting remain an essentially intellectual process requiring a high level of human involvement. This is why FINVERBUS Translations carefully selects accredited translators and interpreters with many years of experience and verifies their qualifications with a test period to assure they meet our strict requirements. We recognise the value of our trusted team members as our core resources and offer them guidance and regular training for continuous development and best results – a tailor-made end product that fully meets our customers’ needs and requirements.

Processes

Just like the processes used by industrial manufacturing industries to ensure end products meet all applicable quality standards, several phases are involved in each translation and interpreting assignment to guarantee the highest quality, timeliness and a successful end result. Our project management processes involve detailed planning, preparation and close monitoring to assure the outcome exceeds our clients’ expectations in every aspect. Read more information on our specific quality assurance processes in the “QA – Translation” and “QA – Interpreting” sections.

Technology

FINVERBUS Translations uses the latest technology to support all translation projects and interpreting events.

Interpreting technology comprises modern equipment such as interpreting booths and wireless infrared headsets to assure the highest quality of sound and smooth event organisation.

Our translation technology includes translation memory tools to create project-specific glossaries that aid all translators and proofreaders working on a project. TM tools help maintain language consistency across multiple projects and groups of translators. Translation Memory tools can significantly reduce translation cost, decrease delivery times for large-scale translation projects and improve consistency in use of terminology.

QA – Translation

In translation, quality assurance starts with assigning the most qualified translator for each project according to the language combination and the required area of expertise. Our translators are always native speakers of the target language and highly specialised in the requested field of expertise.

Each project is planned and prepared carefully, taking into account the target audience and the final purpose of the text, preparing glossaries and gathering reference material for the field or client-specific terminology. During the actual translation work, consistency is assured with translation memory tools, which also contribute to the final quality checks and allow the same terminology to be maintained in all subsequent projects.

The translation process consists of several phases as follows:

Käännösprosessi

1. Clear definition of parameters of assignment: target audience, delivery format, deadlines, etc. Text analysis and review of the source documents.

2. Scheduling and delegation of responsibilities to various team members (project manager, translator, proofreader).

3. Research of subject area and relevant technical glossaries. Integration of any available client-specific glossaries and terminology databases.

4. Translation by one or more translators. Use of translation memory tools to ensure consistency.

5. Independent proofreader with specific industry expertise. Emphasis on correct use of technical vocabulary, consistent style and readability of whole document.

6. Final check of translation and layout.

7. Product delivered to client for review. The client may contact the project manager for any further assistance.

QA – Interpreting

Quality management for interpreting events starts with assigning the most qualified interpreter for each conference and event according to the language combination, type of interpretation requested and the area of expertise. Our interpreters are always native speakers and highly specialised in the requested field of expertise; they are members of recognised international and Swiss professional associations and regularly work for the United Nations and other international organisations.

Each interpreting assignment involves accurate planning and organisation. Thanks to an extensive preparation phase, our interpreters will be entirely prepared for the industry specific terminology and familiar with the subject matter of each event. We guarantee high professionalism and confidentiality for all our interpreting events and are happy to assist you with the planning of your conference or business meeting. Our aim is to ensure that no matter what language they speak, your guests will assimilate all the information provided at the event.
